The Kansas City Royals defeated the Texas Rangers, 7-4, in American League action at Globe Life Field. Kansas City pitcher Kevon Gibbs had a standout performance. Luis Tellez closed the door for Kansas City, picking up his 31st save of the year. The first-place Royals improved to 85-70.

Matt Moore, who finished 4th in the AL in wins above replacement with 6.2 last year, aided the Kansas City cause with a 2-run single in the top of the third. For the game, the left fielder went 2-4 with 2 singles. He scored 2 times and drove in 2.

"We believe in ourselves and we're willing to work hard. It's a good combination," Gibbs told the Kansas City Herald.
