Daughtry Slams 5 Hits for Syracuse
Sunday, August 27th , 2051
5 hits in 5 at-bats. It doesn't happen every day, and when it does, it's exciting. Today, Gene Daughtry of the Syracuse Chiefs had a sensational game against Lehigh Valley at Coca-Cola Park. He rifled base hits all over the ballpark in his team's 9-3 shellacking of the IronPigs.
In the postgame press conference, he joked that he was going to take the rest of the week off.
"I did all my hitting in one day -- what else do they want from me?" he said with a laugh.
Gene Daughtry singled in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, hit an RBI single in the 5th, singled in the 7th and singled in the 9th.
Currently Daughtry is batting .300 with 5 home runs, 38 RBIs and 36 runs scored.
