O'Brien 5-for-7 for Jaguars
Sunday, April 23rd , 2045
Joe O'Brien was at the head of a South Alabama Jaguars hit parade today at Mongoose Ballpark. The 20-year-old went to the plate 7 times and came away with 5 hits, but it was the Auburn Tigers that marched off with the 10-8 win.
"We didn't have it today," griped Jaguars skipper Darin Mastroianni following the game. "Joe did fine, but as a team, we didn't do it with the bats and we didn't do it pitching."
O'Brien did more than fine, dominating the Tigers at the plate during his record-making 5-for-7 performance.
"Each time I went to the plate, I was thinking about hitting the ball hard somewhere," the sweet-swinging third baseman told reporters. "When I focus on that, I usually have quality at-bats."
Joe O'Brien hit an RBI single in the 2nd, hit a solo-shot off Chris Michaels in the 4th, singled in the 6th, singled in the 8th, grounded out in the 9th, hit a two-run home run off Will Shugart in the 12th and grounded out in the 14th.
Thus far this season O'Brien is hitting .239 with 7 home runs, 16 RBIs and 18 runs scored. He has 33 hits in 138 at-bats and has played in 39 games.
