Rangers Shut Out Twins, 8-0
|
The Texas Rangers went home winners at Target Field, thanks in large part to starter Jeremy Heidemann. Heidemann stifled the Minnesota Twins, enabling Texas to grab the 8-0 win. The winning pitcher was Heidemann, now 3-4. He tossed 6.1 innings of 3-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 5. Texas, with the win, sits at 16-37.
Texas used the hitting of Jonathan Payne to pick up the win. The first baseman clubbed a 3-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Rangers on top, 8-0. For the game, Payne had 1 home run and 2 singles in 5 at-bats.
Said losing manager Mike Twins: "Give the Rangers credit. They took advantage of our mistakes."
