Starting pitcher Luca Maundrell gave the London Monarchs a rock-solid effort. The Rushton Spencer, England native helped his team defeat the Buenos Aires Brisas, 3-2, at Estadio Rico. Mustafa Derbil picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 3-0. Carlos Rodda was tagged with the loss. With this game in the books, London is 32-27, Buenos Aires 33-26.
London used the clutch hitting of Bill Cole to snag the win. The left fielder drilled a solo home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Monarchs ahead, 3-2. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a crucial one.
"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said London manager Jack Gulliver. "It's usually not just one thing."
