Toledo Moves on to Pegler Series
Many baseball pundits expected a close series in the Baxter League Garden Cup. It turned out quite a bit different.


The Toledo Liberty swept aside the Portsmouth Vikings to advance to the Pegler Series, winning the final game by a 4-0 score at Todd Creek Grounds.

The series MVP was designated hitter Taisuke Kamimura, who hit .500 with a .556 on-base percentage. He had 1 home runs, drove in 2 RBI and scored 2 runs.

"We expected this series to go right down to the wire, so to sweep is a bit of a surprise," he said. "But we'll take it."

The Toledo Liberty will play against the Billings Cowboys in the next round. Billings won their series against the Hollywood Silver Stars 2 games to 0. The Pegler Series is scheduled to begin on September 12th , 2061.
