Kernels Lose at Home, 6-1, to Yellow Springs
|
Nine third baseman Dong-po Thum put his stamp on his team's 6-1 win over the Des Moines Kernels. Thum was 4 for 4 with a home run and 3 singles. He scored 2 times for Yellow Springs in the contest. Myung-joo Pak, the winner, improved to 2-1. He held the Kernels to 1 run on 4 hits over 7 innings, while striking out 4 and walking 0. Yellow Springs now has a record of 13-17.
Yellow Springs used a well-timed hit by Arvin Duggan to capture the win. The center fielder socked a 2-run double in the top of the fifth inning to put the Nine ahead, 5-1. Though it was his only hit in 5 at-bats, it was important.
"Chalk one up for the good guys," said Thum. "I'm sure our fans enjoyed that win."
