Cruz Muzzles Newton Falls Bats
Monday, August 18th , 2059
Goose eggs were the order of the day for the Newton Falls Flying Tigers as starter Javier Cruz shut them out, 3-0, at Tiger Den. The St. Joseph pitcher struck out 10 and walked 3 while allowing 2 hits.
"Cruz was good but he wasn't flawless," Newton Falls manager Curt Blackburn said. "We had a few opportunities to make something happen and we didn't do it. Not to take anything away from St. Joseph, but this is on us."
This year in 6 starts, Cruz has recorded 6 wins and absorbed 4 losses. He has pitched 109.2 innings, allowed 95 hits, struck out 89 and has a 2.95 ERA.
