2027 Mid-Season Milestone Watch

With the President’s Cup in the rear view mirror, all of the CBA now eyes the second half of the season, with some clubs fighting for playoff slots or promotion, while others try to maximize their chances to improve in the future. It’s a great time to check on some league milestones.

CHRIS “IRONY” HOUSE has been a stabilizing rotation presence during his first year in Los Angeles, and he and the Chilis sit just one game out of first place in the PL. At age 37, he is just five strikeouts away from 1,000. Salt Lake City’s reliable ADRIAN “DEADSHOT” OWENS won’t be far behind, with his 970 career Ks.

Active pitchers with a career WAR of 20 or more is an elite club with just 12 members, a list littered with familiar faces. Two more could join their ranks soon, as the Thunderbirds’ CHRIS “BIG HOUSE” ABBOTT and Atlanta mainstay MIKE “WIN” QUINN each sit at 19.3

JAMIE “MACHINE” MALCHOW has lived up to that nickname during his illustrious CBA career. He is the only player in league history to eclipse 1,000 hits thus far (1,032), and the next closest hitter is 100 base knocks away. The Midwest 2B is on track to become the first player with 3,500 career plate appearances (3,422) and 200 doubles (199, although Miami’s MIGUEL “MILK STEAK” GALLEGOS (197) and Indianapolis’ JOSE “CHIVO” SANCHEZ (196) are right behind. Malchow is also the only CBAer with over 50 triples (54).

Mammoths 1B BRAD SAYERS sits alone in the 200 HR Club (211), but Cincy’s ANDY “KING” BACA could join him with a strong second half (190). Baca and Indy’s BRIAN MOORE should also be the next two sluggers to eclipse 500 career RBIS (497 each), joining just eight players that have reached that total.

The CBA’s active leader in WAR is none other than JOSE “BUZZY” RODRIGUEZ of Sacramento at 30.6 He’s also far and away the all-time leader in steals with 314, with nobody else yet to 250…Liberty veteran CHRIS “CRACKER” GREENWELL has been a feared CBA hitter during the league’s entire history, yet he’s only 28 year old. The respect he has earned is clear as he closes in on becoming the first player with 50 career intentional walks to his credit (46). Greenwell is also the active CBA leader in extra base hits with 370.

It’s a team game, and thus the #1 and #2 clubs in all-time regular season victories will come as no surprise. The DALLAS DEVILS should reach 500 by season’s end (473), with the DETROIT MOTORS (461) the only other franchise with a lifetime PL winning percentage over .600. In addition to these two perennial contenders, the FLORIDA GIANTS, ARIZONA THUNDERBIRDS, and CHICAGO GALE deserve acknowledgment for spending all of the CBA’s history in the Premier League…The Silver League is the CBA’s most competitive year in and year out, and the ATLANTA SWARM, MEXICO CITY CHUPACABRAS, and OKLAHOMA MAMMOTHS have survived five rigorous years there since the inaugural campaign.

As we approach the real-life first anniversary, I’d also like to recognize all of you guys. This is my favorite simulation league of any kind that I’ve ever been in, and that’s because of you awesome commissioners and owners. Thanks for everything you guys all do.
