Five CBA Offseason Predictions

Many CBA fans have already turned their attention to the National Flag Football League that dominates American Sundays in 2028, but those who are still focusing on baseball everyday should be excited to see where the top players land. The 2028-29 offseason features several elite players and a fantastic second tier of stars. Here are five things the CBA Today expects to happen before Opening Day 2029.

Jose Guzman signs with Cincinnati

The Royals are left with a depleted rotation with the departure of Adam Jackson and Mario Castillo. Jose Guzman is without a home after a reported fallout with the Detroit Motors. This match makes too much sense to not happen. The defending Premier League and CBA champs have a decent cushion to lose some talent, but if the season started today, Dallas would be the slight favorite to add to their trophy collection. Cincinnati has a decent amount of cash to toy with, so signing one of the greatest starters of all time would be a huge help.

Oklahoma, Los Angeles, Indianapolis and Sacramento add the most talent

It’s all about being in the Premier League. Right now, these four teams are not ready to consistently compete against the upper echelon of the CBA, and they’re all in danger of being in the SL-PL shuttle long-term. Landing a legitimate MVP candidate could be the difference in these teams getting in/lasting in the gauntlet. Players like Damian Blanksby, Jose Guzman, Jordan Gutierrez, Willie Cintron and Andy Mobley have all been connected to these teams in need of star talent. The Florida Giants are in the same boat, but have less cash to work with this year.

Jordan Gutierrez makes the most cash, but doesn’t take his talents to South Beach

After already banking 22 million dollars from his first contract, it’s safe to say now is a good time to be Jordan Gutierrez’s wallet. As the only elite centerfielder available now and one of the few true five tool 8-spot guys in the CBA, the young star is going to get paid handsomely. Unfortunately for Warriors fans, they will likely drop out of the sweepstakes and avoid financially handicapping a budding championship contender down the road. Right now it appears that Portland, Los Angeles and Florida are the top potential suitors.

Damian Blanksby lands in the Silver League

The rumors around in the CBA-sphere are telling us that the main pursuers of the best baseballaroo since Tye Bruce are in the second tier of baseball. The consensus opinion on Blanksby is that he’s a greedy guy, but he’s a potential .350 hitter with power. He will likely be wooed by the top financial offer, which will likely come from a heavily motivated GM who wants to separate itself from the tightest ten teams in the CBA. Blanksby is a top ten player in the league right now and one team is going to pay the hefty price.

Portland makes an oddly large splash

Many expected the Axemen to stand pat at the deadline, and they went out and got veterans on loan. Earlier this offseason they traded cash for two of Great Lakes’ veterans. It’s hard to imagine Portland isn’t serious about adding talent this year, but they might not be ready to contend right away. The front office has to weigh the risks of the financial implications of signing big name guys, but the Axemen should try to improve their standing as they head off to Hershey. It’s unclear exactly who they will chase, but CBA Today has learned that they are in on several of the BNN top 25 free agents.
