2057 BL Positional Rankings – Left Field

  1. Sam Perez (Houston)

No surprise here, Perez is handsdown the best hitter in CBA history. He is the all-time leader in OBP, SLG%, OPS, WPA, ISO, wOBA, wRC, and runs. 2056 was a bit of a disappointing year for Perez due to injury. However; in the 22 games he played he slashed an absurd .342/.438/.566 with an OPS+ of 182. Perez should be the front runner for his 7th Silver Slugger and a solid bet to win his 3rd MVP.

  1. Tim Bernard (Vancouver)

Acquired from the DC Eagles this past off-season, Bernard will be playing his first season outside of the Premier League. The 26 year-old is coming off his best season, in which he slashed .270/.343/.546 to go along with 33 home runs, 26 doubles, and 20 steals. Be on the lookout for a big season from Bernard, as he is leaving the pitcher friendly home of DC and heading west to the Vancouver ballpark that will maximize his speed.

  1. Tatsumi Nishida (Charlotte)

You know a position is stacked when this guy is the 3rd best. It took the 23 year-old only 83 games to reach the 20/20 club in 2056. Nishida slashed a ridiculous .306/.363/.551 with an OPS+ of 155. His 3.3 WAR in 83 games would have translated to 4.8 over 120 games, which would have been 2nd best in Charlotte history behind Noah Porter in 2050. Should he play a full season, Nishida will have an outside chance at the 30/30 club.

  1. Jose Alvarez (Miami)

Alvarez has been a staple in the Miami lineup since the 2050 IPT. Since then he has earned two Gold Gloves and two Silver Sluggers to go with his 2051 PL Champion while on loan in Toronto. The Miami front office rewarded Alvarez’s loyalty with a 6 year $108M extension this past off-season. The left-handed hitter will be looking to continue his 2056 success where he posted .333/.369/.443.

  1. Jerry King (Seattle)

King could be a dark horse bet to win Bronze League MVP this season. Just two seasons ago he slashed .348/.393/.621 with 22 home runs, 16 triples, and 32 doubles on his way to Bronze League Silver Slugger and MVP. Despite his poor year in 2055 Seattle handed him $110M over the next 6 years with an opt out after the 2059 season.

  1. Jason Walstrum (Philadelphia)

The 26 year-old will be going into his first full season as a big league starter after only playing 46 games last year. Walstrum slashed .218/.313/.408 with 6 steals and 8 home runs. The 2053 2nd round draft pick is another guy on this list who can threaten the 20/20 club year in and year out.

  1. Tony Alvarez (Minnesota)

This will be Alvarez’s first season in the Bronze League despite Minnesota being his 5th CBA franchise. He has spent time with Cleveland, Phoenix, Charlotte and Austin. Now with the Freeze Alvarez has the chance to surpass 900 games, 900 hits, 100 home runs, 500 RBIs, and 200 walks. He is currently in the all-time top-10 for games played, plate appearances, and at bats.

  1. Adina Uday (Tampa Bay)

As of the writing of this article Uday is the only India-born player on a big league roster. He has been with the Palms franchise since the 2050 Inaugural Draft, where he was selected in the 29th round. Last season was his first in the big leagues. His line of.224/.286/.622 leaves much to be desired, but he projects to be much better this season.

  1. Vic Leger (Atlanta)

The 28 year-old Canadian has been with Atlanta since being acquired from Detroit via trade back in 2053. Last year in 72 games he slashed .225/.292/.333, which was good for -.5 WAR. He will be looking to have an improved 2057 for a Swarm team trying to get back on their feet.

  1. Franklin Jacquez (Boston)

The two time Gold Glove winner will be looking to bounce back from his horrid 2056 season. After posting 1.9 WAR in both 2054 and 2055, Jacquez posted -1.3 WAR last year. His production fell harshly across the board, striking out nearly 200 times. His bat will be looking to rebound for a Boston franchise trying to get out of the Bronze League quickly.
