Picking some cherries from 2026 week one

Random first week stats probably not worthy of an actual article:

  • The biggest jump in ELO rating after eight games? The Carolina Aces! Still ranked 30th, but they picked up 10.8 points, the only team in the CBA up double digits so far. Detroit is next, with a 9.4 point improvement (thanks to Blinky “Show Me the Money” Guzman”, and Bay Area is third with 8.4. At the other end of the spectrum, four teams dropped ten points or more, with Florida’s frustrating last week leaving them at a 14.5 point regression thus far.
  • The league champion Dallas Devils are off to a 4-4 start. All four losses have been credited to Keith Bush and Chris House…the pitchers #1 and #2 in all-time wins in CBA history.
  • The Bay Area Pandas lead the Silver League in fewest runs against, defensive efficiency, starter ERA, and bullpen ERA. They are the only team in the CBA to lead their league in all “big four” categories of offense or defense. The Bronze League has four different leaders in each offensive category (San Diego, Brooklyn, Houston, and a three team tie for first with 8 steals). This gives them six individual franchises technically leading their league in an offensive category.
  • Denver’s Kevin Rayos has not attempted to steal a base since 2022, when he did it once. He was safe. Arizona’s Diablo Rodriguez and Detroit’s Squirt Ryan have each played over 500 career games with zero stolen base attempts.
  • Cincy Royals Echo Savage and Scorchin’ Storch each knocked their 100th career homer during the season’s first week.
  • Chicago Gale CF Rem-Dog Munroe is the only Premiere Leaguer to log a hit in each of his team’s first eight games. Liberty 2B Paul Folk holds that same honor in the Bronze League, while four Silver League batters have managed it: Salt Lake’s reigning league MVP Luis Diaz, Atlanta’s ageless Shen Qi, L.A. Chilis 2B Brendan Evans, and Denver SS Pistol Pisano. The CBA’s longest hitting streak ever was 38 games by the Wolves’ Greg Pacheco, which is remarkable considering his tendons and ligaments are made of dry, cracked rubber bands.
  • More streaking: New Cincinnati reliever Dennis Jones has a 1-1 record with no saves, but more notably he has converted an association best 30 straight save opportunities, dating back to last year with Portland—one shy of the all-time CBA mark of 31 straight by Atlanta’s Jesus Gaytan. Jones and the RPs with the longest current save streaks in the other two leagues (Mexico City’s Tony Carreon and Brooklyn’s Ivan Saenz) have zero in 2026.
