Caputo Ends Season With Longest Hitting Streak In League History Still In Tact

Los Angeles Chilis’ star right fielder Abe ‘Lincoln’ Caputo has finished his 2026 Silver League Championship campaign with his 40 game hit streak still ongoing. Caputo achieved the longest hitting streak when he got a hit in his 33rd consecutive game against the Snappers on September 2, surpassing the 32 game streak DC’s Francisco Ramirez had put together in 2025. On September 10th against Austin the Chilis’ Right Fielder got a hit in his 39th consecutive game by poking the ball on the ground between the third baseman and the short stop in the first inning, surpassing the streak of former Chilis’ prospect and current Denver Wolf, Greg Pacheco, which had previously been the longest streak in the history of the CBA. Caputo’s day did not end there, as he was able to collect three more hits on the day.

This streak started on July 27th against New York, right as Caputo came out of a slump that he had been in since the President’s Cup break. Understandably, the former UCLA star and fourth overall pick in the 2022 draft, saw his batting average rise considerably over this stretch. His average was .315 at the beginning of the streak and he ended the season with the Silver League batting title and an average of .380, just six points shy of the single season mark set by Miami’s Angel Cruz in 2024. However, during this streak Caputo was able to achieve the highest career batting average in the Silver League, .369 (nice). The Chili’s manager attributes Caputo’s hot streak for being a large contributor to the Chilis’ being able to win the Silver League and the right to compete in the Premier League next season. He said, “We were tied for the Silver League’s top spot when this streak started, but thanks in part to Abe’s hot streak we were able to win 31 of our last 40 and take the league by 7 games.” Caputo is now only 16 games short of the, now defunct, MLB hitting streak record. Hopefully he is able to carry this hot streak into the offseason and continue against Premier League competition next season.
