Gremlins Prevail, 4-3, Over New Orleans
|
The Galveston Gremlins picked up a win at Island Park, knocking off the New Orleans Krewe, 4-3. Starting pitcher Skyler Ledford was a big reason why. Ledford, now 4-4, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 9, walking 4, and allowing 3 runs. The win puts Galveston at 39-36 this season.
The Krewe had been locked in a 2-2 tie with the Gremlins going into the bottom of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the three-time Gold Glove winner Luis Pagan came to the plate. Pagan hit a 2-run home run on a 1-2 slider from New Orleans hurler Andy Hundley. It was Pagan's 10th home run of the year.
In postgame comments to the Galveston Daily, Ledford said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
