Swarm Win at Mexico City, 3-2
|
Mark Lepore pitched well enough to win, but it was not to be. The Mexico City Chupacabras, despite Lepore's fine outing, dropped a 3-2 decision to the Atlanta Swarm at Estadio Azteca. Adrian Blackwood was the winner. Over 7.2 innings, he allowed 2 runs on 7 hits, with 1 walk and 2 strikeouts. Mike Rumph earned his 7th save in 8 chances.
Atlanta relied on the bat of Byron Bradnock to get the win. The catcher ripped a solo home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Swarm ahead, 3-2. For the game, Bradnock had 1 double and 1 home run in 3 at-bats.
"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Atlanta manager Nathan Garrison said.
The Swarm go to 42-66 with the win.
