Skylarks Get Close Win Over Thunderbirds
Salesforce Park was sent into a frenzy with a walk-off win.

The San Diego Skylarks did just enough to secure a 4-3 victory over the Arizona Thunderbirds at Salesforce Park. Nobody did more than pitcher Jamie Simmons, who captured player of the game honors. San Diego reliever Geoff Merryman picked up the win, upping his record to 1-1. Sean Wallace absorbed the loss.

Brian Darwin was the walk-off hero for San Diego. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Skylarks center fielder hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.

"This place was electric at the end," Simmons said.

The win pushes San Diego to a record of 7-6.
