Coyotes Prevail, 2-1, Over Boston
|
The Boston Rogers got a superb performance from pitcher Ian Wildman. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Carolina. The Coyotes won the game, 2-1. In spite of the loss, Wildman was named the player of the game. He threw 5 innings of 3-hit ball. Carolina reliever Josh Lara picked up the win to move to 2-4. Ian Wildman suffered the loss. Chris Varela closed the door for Carolina, picking up his 4th save of the year.
It could have been a different outcome for Carolina, had it not been for Jonathan Corona, the 34-year old third baseman . Corona contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the first inning to put Carolina up, 2-0.
"We found a way to get it done," Corona said.
The Coyotes bumped their record to 21-18 with this latest triumph.
