Brown Tags Night Hawks for 5 Hits
|
Even as a kid, Alan Brown said his coaches told him the key to hitting was making contact, and letting everything else flow from there. At Marksmen Ballpark, Brown showed how well he learned that lesson.
The 20-year-old third baseman had 5 hits in 5 at-bats for the Virginia Beach College Marksmen, helping his team knock off the Seattle College Night Hawks by a score of 16-0.
"They always said, just keep your eye on the ball, don't overswing, make contact and you never know what will happen," he said. "That's all I did."
Alan Brown walked in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, walked in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 4th, hit an RBI single in the 5th, hit a two-run triple in the 6th and singled in the 8th.
This season, Brown has posted a batting average of .457 with 16 hits in 35 at-bats, 1 home run and 8 RBIs. He has also scored 7 runs, walked 4 times and compiled a .500 OBP.
