Cook Sparkles in 2-0 Shutout
|
The Louisville Bats did little to support starter Danny Cook against the Pawtucket Red Sox, but it turned out he didn't need the help.
The right-hander spun a complete game shutout against the Red Sox, striking out 5 and surrendering 8 hits. The performance from Cook allowed Louisville to escape with the 2-0 win despite an anemic offense.
"Nobody came to me and said 'Danny, we're gonna need you to win this one for us today,' but I could feel it," Cook told BNN reporters following the win. "I'm the guy that will step up for you when you need it."
Cook has made 5 starts so far this year and put up a 1-2 won-lost record with a 3.32 ERA. In 38 innings he has allowed 38 hits, walked 7 and struck out 27.
