López Slams 3 Deep for San Diego (AZL) Saturday, August 31st , 2052 San Diego (AZL) Padres right fielder Leonardo López sensed he was going to have a good day at the plate, but he still might have underestimated it a little. Prior to the start of today's contest with the Chicago N (AZL) Cubs, López told teammates he was sure he would hit a home run. He did -- three times. "During batting practice I really had my swing down pat," he recalled. "I felt some thunder in the lumber." The big day from López pushed the Padres past the Cubs, 17-11. To go along with the homers, he collected 10 RBIs and scored 3 runs. "I was seeing good, feeling good and swinging good," López told reporters after the game. Leonardo López walked in a run in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off Mac Arnold in the 3rd, hit a three-run home run off Augusto Martínez in the 4th, hit a GRAND SLAM off Mike Wilkerson in the 5th and struck out in the 8th. Currently López is batting .245 with 10 home runs and 26 RBIs. |
