Arellanos Bangs 3 HR Against Columbus HS Thursday, March 6th , 2053 As soon as the first ball went over the fence, everyone at Rockford HS Fields knew it -- Tony Arellanos was in a groove. Fans showered the uber-popular Arellanos with applause each time he came to the plate, and he rewarded them right back, finishing with a trio of home runs to help the Rockford HS Paladins top the visiting Columbus HS Trains, 11-9. "It was one of the better days in my baseball career," Arellanos said later. "I was on cloud nine out there and I think everyone was enjoying it." Along with his three home runs, the 15-year-old had 3 hits in 4 at-bats, 6 RBIs and 4 runs scored. "They always love it when Tony goes to the plate," Rockford HS manager Vic Alexander said of the club's fan base. "But today was something else entirely." Tony Arellanos hit a solo-shot off Alan Cook in the 1st, walked in the 2nd, struck out in the 4th, hit a GRAND SLAM off Bob Baldwin in the 5th and hit a solo-shot off Luis Bruno in the 7th. This season, Arellanos is batting at a .393 clip with 7 home runs and 14 RBIs. |
