No Hits for Pope, Streak Ends at 24 Wednesday, April 13th , 2050 Albuquerque HS Red Raiders left fielder Jake Pope and his hot bat finally met their match today at Avalanche Ballpark. The Phoenix HS Avalanche snapped his 24-game hitting string, holding Pope hitless in 2 at-bats and also whipping Albuquerque HS for good measure. "We're real pleased with this one," Avalanche manager Steve Henson said. "Nobody wants to be on the wrong end of a streak like that, and clobbering Albuquerque HS makes it even sweeter." So far this season Pope has hit .354 with 7 home runs, 39 RBIs and scored 28 times. |
