Almost There: Toronto On Cusp of World Series Triumph After 5-3 Win
|
With starter Kohei Arihara leading the charge, the Toronto Blue Jays defeated the St. Louis Cardinals, 5-3, in Game 4 of the World Series today. The right-hander threw 7.1 innings allowing 3 runs at Busch Stadium to help Toronto take a 3-1 lead in the best-of-7 series.
Toronto used the clutch hitting of Christian Vazquez to capture the win. The catcher drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Blue Jays ahead, 5-3. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a big one.
"We lost," St. Louis manager Grant Christy said later. "We'll deal with it. The series isn't over."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Busch Stadium in St. Louis.
