Kansas City Wins at Home to Take 2-1 Lead in DS
|
The Kansas City Royals moved to within one game of the League Championship Series today, downing the visiting Texas Rangers at Kauffman Stadium by a score of 9-7. Royals third baseman Bobby Witt Jr. did some major damage. He was 2 for 4 with a double. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. The win gives the Royals a 2-1 advantage in the best-of-5 Division Series.
With two out in the bottom of the sixth, Harrison Bader barreled up a changeup from Reggie Lawson. The result was a 2-run home run, putting the Royals in front, 9-4.
"I got everyone together and told them they did great today," Kansas City manager Brett Shelton told BNN reporters after the game. "But I warned them that even if we make it out of the Division Series, it's only going to get harder."
Game 4 is set to be played tomorrow at Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City. Slated to start are Mike Clevinger for the Texas Rangers and Justus Sheffield for the the Kansas City Royals.
