Double O's Drop Apaches, 7-6
|
Shaun Schmidt did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the El Paso Apaches from losing, 7-6, to the Potomac Double O's at The Canyon. Schmidt was 2 for 5 with a home run, while scoring 2 and driving in 3. David Meeks snagged the win in relief. In 1.1 innings, the left-hander allowed no runs on no hits. He's now 9-3 on the season. The save went to Jonathan Bell, his 4th this season.
Potomac used the timely hitting of Alan Taylor to seize the win. The shortstop stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the tenth inning to put the Double O's on top, 7-6. It was his only hit in 2 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"There's never a lack of effort in our clubhouse. We're willing to do the little things to get the win," Taylor told the Potomac Gazette.
The loss makes El Paso 75-78.
