No Mercy for Crawdads in 14-0 Pounding
The El Paso Apaches pasted the New Orleans Crawdads, 14-0. El Paso right fielder Shaun Schmidt had a big game. He slugged 3 home runs. He scored 4 runs and drove in 4. Matt Casey earned the win for El Paso. He lasted 6 innings, allowing no runs on 4 hits, while striking out 1. With the win, he raised his record to 9-9. The save went to Carlos Crespo, number 3 for him.

It could have been a different outcome for El Paso, had it not been for Iván Rodríguez, the five-time All-Star . Rodríguez contributed a 2-run home run in the top of the third inning to put El Paso up, 2-0.

"That was brutal," said losing manager Chris Stephan. "It'll probably keep me awake all night."

The third-place Apaches improved to 77-78.
