Carr Shines, But Cougars Fall Short
|
The Los Angeles Agents overcame a fine performance by Greenfield first baseman Arthur Carr to defeat the Cougars, 6-5, at Cougar Stadium. Carr belted 2 home runs. He drove in 5 runs and scored twice. Sergio Torres notched the win in relief. The left-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2 innings. His record now sits at 3-1. Picking up the save was Jorge Hurtado, his 2nd.
Los Angeles used a clutch hit from Luis Vélez to get the win. The first baseman drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Agents ahead, 5-3. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
In postgame comments to the Los Angeles Daily News, Vélez said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
The Cougars, now 5-13, continue their slow start.
