Spinners Lose to Eagles, 6-3
|
The Washington Eagles took Greenville pitcher Mitchell Walton's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Field of Honor 2. The final score had Washington getting past the Spinners, 6-3. Walton went 6 innings and allowed 2 runs, striking out 4. Matt Hull earned the save for Washington , his 6th of the year. The loss has the Spinners at 19-9.
Had Ken Schultz not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Schultz hit a 2-run single. That made the score 5-3, in favor of the Eagles.
"We'll enjoy this win," said Schultz. "But there's more we hope to accomplish."
