Storm Dealt 4-1 Home Loss
|
The San Diego Storm and San Jose Quakes were greeted by an enthusiastic crowd.
San Jose starter Carlos Morales put a stranglehold on the San Diego offense. The right-hander had complete command of his slider in leading the Quakes to a 4-1 win. Morales went 6 innings to notch the win. He scattered 4 hits, walked 0, and struck out 2. His record improves to 3-3. Bill Orr earned the save for San Jose, his 12th of the year.
The outcome might have been different for San Jose, had it not been for António López, the two-time All-Star . López stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the eighth inning to put San Jose up, 3-1. For the game, he was 2 for 4, including 1 double and 1 single.
"We came in and got the job done. That's what it's all about in this business," said López.
The Quakes, at 24-13, have now won 5 straight.
