Mutiny Take Down Eagles, 1-0
|
In a tight affair between the Miami Mutiny and the Washington Eagles, pitcher Ángel Deleón was in the zone. The Miami right-hander helped his team win the game, 1-0. Pedro Gutiérrez, now 2-0, was credited with the win. He allowed no runs on no hits, while striking out 1 and walking 1. With this game in the books, Miami is 27-14, Washington 17-24.
Miami used the timely hitting of Chris Mercer to seize the win. The catcher stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the tenth inning to put the Mutiny on top, 1-0. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"What a great win for our team," said a jubilant Geoff Matt, the Miami manager.
