Quakes Get Clutch Win, 4-3
The San Jose Quakes did just enough to secure a victory over the Boston Shamrocks, 4-3, in 10 innings at Cisco Field. Nobody did more than pitcher Rob Odom. The win went to Lou Fields in relief, making him now 2-1. Lawrence Gregg took the loss for Boston. San Jose has won 3 straight, while Boston has lost 3 in a row.

Up to bat in the bottom of the tenth, six-time All-Star Ramiro Barrera had a chance to be the hero. Boston pitcher Lawrence Gregg wanted to foil that plan. But with two outs, Barrera drew a walk, driving in 1 run. The Quakes had themselves a thrilling win.

"We came out on the wrong end of this one," said Boston skipper Mike Trigwell.
