Clutch Hitting Delivers Win for Steamers
|
The Cleveland Steamers did just enough to sneak past the Noblesville Millers, 5-4, at Cleveland Municipal Stadium. Cleveland pitcher Robert Harris, in particular, had a standout performance. With the win, Cleveland raised its record to 36-36.
Had Masahiko Kubota not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Kubota hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 5-4, in favor of the Steamers.
"Good win for us," said Harris. "We'll lace up our cleats and go after the next one."
