Pirates Get One-Run Win at Philadelphia
|
Getting an impressive start from Logan Allen, Pittsburgh beat Philadelphia by the score of 2-1. Allen got the win, improving to 9-9. He allowed 6 hits and walked 1 over 5 innings. Allen allowed 1 run. Earning his 36th save for Pittsburgh was David Bednar.
Brett Wisely, the 27-year old second baseman , had a direct impact on the outcome. Wisely contributed a 2-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to put Pittsburgh up, 2-1.
Afterward, Pirates manager Bob Smith was ebullient. "That was a fun game to coach," he told a group of reporters, adding, "I hope it was just as fun to watch."
The Phillies, now 76-78, have lost 4 straight.
