Mariners Cut Down Astros, 4-1
|
Seattle beat Houston on the strength of starter David Leal's fine effort. The left-hander led his team to a win, 4-1. Leal picked up the win for Seattle, going 6 innings. He gave up 1 run on 6 hits. He now sports a record of 13-8. Seattle is now 91-66, Houston 77-80.
The Mariners got a big at-bat from third baseman Jorge Cervantes. For the game, Cervantes went 1 for 3 with a double, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the first, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 39th double of the season gave Seattle a 2-0 lead.
"The effort we put into this one paid off," Cervantes said.
