A 6-RBI performance from the 28-year old right fielder Kyle Stowers helped the Pittsburgh Pirates beat the Colorado Rockies, 11-2. Pittsburgh pitcher Reid Detmers got the win. He's now 6-4. Nick Bitsko was tagged with the loss. Pittsburgh is now 34-35.

With Pittsburgh trailing 2-1 in the top of the third, Stowers hit a slider from Nick Bitsko for a grand slam home run. It was his 7th home run of the season and put the Pirates ahead, 5-2.

Colorado manager Koty Kochan called the blowout loss "just something that happens from time to time."
