Nationals Slap 6-3 Loss on Red Hawks
|
Washington and Oklahoma City got after it at The Hawks Nest.
The Washington Nationals defeated the Oklahoma City Red Hawks, 6-3, at The Hawks Nest today. Leading the charge for Washington was center fielder Luis Robert. He was 3 for 3 with 3 singles and 2 walks. Aaron Nola picked up the win with 7 innings of work. He allowed 2 runs on 8 hits, while walking 1 and striking out 3. On the season, he is now 5-7. Emmanuel Clase, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 18th save.
With scoring opportunities rare, the Nationals had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the top of the fifth, when right fielder Robert Hassell III hit a run-scoring single. The single came off Prelander Berroa and made the score 1-0, Nationals. Hassell III went 1 for 4 with a hit by pitch.
Robert said his team "played with focus."
Their 36-38 record puts the Nationals 6th in the National League East Division.
