Extra-Inning Win by Astros Over Athletics
|
Houston Astros starter Marcus Stroman kept the Oakland Athletics hitters in check, leading his team to a comfortable 6-2 win. Houston pitcher Jeffrey Springs got the win, upping his record to 3-5. Jake Woodford got the loss. The triumph puts Houston at 56-51 for the season.
Houston needed the clutch hitting of Willy Vasquez to notch the win. The third baseman hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the 11th inning to put the Astros on top, 4-2. For the game, Vasquez had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"Nice to tuck this win away," said Stroman.
