Behind a solid performance from first baseman Pete Alonso, the New York Yankees defeated the Boston Red Sox, 7-4. Alonso was 1 for 4 with a home run. He drove in 4 runs and scored once for the Yankees. The loss has the Red Sox at 1-3.

New York grabbed the momentum in the top of the fifth, when Alonso, who led the AL in home runs with 52 in 2023, hit a grand slam home run. His 1st home run of the season put the Yankees out in front, 6-2.

"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Alonso told the New York Today.
