The Minnesota Twins trumped the Detroit Tigers, 6-5, at Comerica Park. Minnesota center fielder Brandon Nimmo was terrific. He went 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3. Luis Severino, who went 5.1 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 5 runs on 6 hits, while walking 4 and striking out 2. His record now stands at 1-1. Minnesota has a mark of 7-2 after the win.

The game turned with one out in the top of the sixth when Nimmo, who is a three-time Gold Glove Award winner, hit a 2-run single. It propelled the Twins into the lead, 6-4.

"We had the game right there for the taking," said Detroit manager Joel Wade. "But we decided not to take it."
