Pittsburgh Pirates starter Chase Dollander was dealing. He helped his team knock off the Washington Nationals, 1-0. David Bednar recorded the save for Pittsburgh, his 5th of the season. The Nationals fall to 8-10 and continue their uneven start to the 2026 season.

The Pirates got a big at-bat from catcher William Contreras. For the game, Contreras went 3-4 with a double and 2 singles. In the bottom of the sixth, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 2nd double of the season gave Pittsburgh a 1-0 lead.

"We'll kick back tonight, then get set for the next one," Contreras said.
