Washington Beats St. Louis, 6-1
|
Pitcher Spencer Strider was sensational for the Washington Nationals in his team's 6-1 triumph over the St. Louis Cardinals. Strider picked up the win, and it was well-earned. Strider, the winner, moves to 3-0. He threw 6 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 7 and giving up 1 walk. Losses have been rare for the Cardinals, who are now 14-5.
Washington relied on the bat of James Wood to get the win. The first baseman ripped a grand slam home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Nationals ahead, 6-1. For the game, Wood had 1 double and 1 home run in 5 at-bats.
"One win at a time, one game at a time. We try not to get too far ahead of ourselves," Wood told the Washington News.
