Hayes Lifts Cubs to 4-2 Triumph
The Chicago Cubs topped the New York Mets by a score of 4-2. Leading the way was third baseman Ke'Bryan Hayes. Hayes went 4-4 with a home run and 3 singles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once for the Cubs. Kyle Hendricks earned the win to go to 3-1. He allowed 1 run on 6 hits, with 1 walk and 2 strikeouts in 6 innings of work. Ethan Roberts got credit for the save for Chicago. It was his 10th of the year.

With Chicago leading 2-1 in the bottom of the sixth, Hayes hit a run-scoring single off New York hurler Diego Castillo. It was the 26th hit of the season for Hayes and put his team ahead, 3-1.
