Behind a solid performance from designated hitter Malcom Nunez, the St. Louis Cardinals defeated the Chicago Cubs, 6-4. Nunez slugged 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice for the Cardinals. The winner was St. Louis reliever Stevie Branche, now 1-0. The loser was Chris Sale. Paul Sewald locked down his 9th save.

Nunez had an important at-bat with a runner on 1st in the top of the seventh, when he hit a 2-run home run. The Cardinals went on to win.
