The Milwaukee Brewers beat the Cincinnati Reds, 5-4, at Great American Ball Park. Andy Smallwood, in particular, was impressive. He was 3-4 with a double and 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Kevin Walton snagged the win in relief. He goes to 1-0 on the season. Jon Whitehead suffered the loss. Esteban Contreras earned his 19th save, after closing out the game.

The game was at a stalemate until center fielder Humberto Fuentes came to bat in the top of the eighth. Facing Cincinnati pitcher Jon Whitehead, he hit a 1-1 curveball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Milwaukee on top, 5-4.

"Helping the team win is what it's all about," said Fuentes.

Milwaukee, at 32-36, sits in 4th place in the National League Central Division.
