Rivera Blisters Wilmington
|
It seemed that Carolina second baseman Rogelio Rivera could do no wrong as the Mudcats KO'd the Blue Rocks, 19-3 today. Rivera rapped out 5 hits in 6 at-bats and seemed to know which pitches Blue Rocks hurlers were throwing.
"I think the Mudcats were stealing signs," growled one unhappy Wilmington fan after the game.
"I just felt good today. I saw the ball well and just wanted to make good contact and put the ball in play," said the jubilant Rivera in the postgame press interview.
Rogelio Rivera singled in the 1st, hit a two-run single in the 2nd, walked in a run in the 3rd, grounded out in the 4th, hit a two-run double in the 6th, hit an RBI single in the 7th and hit an RBI single in the 8th.
Thus far this season in 95 games Rivera is batting .296 with 3 home runs, 44 RBIs and 42 runs scored. He has 103 hits in 348 at-bats.
