Chastain Slams 5 Hits for Garden Grove HS Saturday, April 8th, 2028 All game long, Garden Grove HS's J.R. Chastain was rattling the walls at Nationals Park and banging out base hits against the Pittsburgh HS Bass. When the dust finally settled on the diamond, he had a 5-hit day and the Nationals had a 22-6 victory. Speaking with reporters after his standout performance, the 18-year-old third baseman said, "Get 5 hits, win a ballgame, it's nice. I could get used to this." J.R. Chastain hit an RBI single in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Chris Merino in the 2nd, flied out in the 4th, doubled in the 6th, singled in the 7th and singled in the 7th. Chastain is batting .314 this year with 1 home run, 7 RBIs and 8 runs scored. He has 11 hits in 35 at-bats. |
