The Windsor Vigilantes got a sterling performance from pitcher Frank McKinney, but the Hamilton Mounties still prevailed, 5-2. McKinney threw 6.1 innings of 5-hit ball. The Vigilantes, at 3-20, have stumbled out of the gate.

Hamilton used the clutch hitting of Don Rudge to capture the win. The pinch hitter drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Mounties ahead, 3-2. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a big one.

"We'll take some time to unwind," said Rudge, "and then get after it again."
