Neptunes Bang Out 8-7 Win Versus Detroit
The Detroit Thunderbirds and Toledo Neptunes provided some drama for the home crowd.

David Kenney had a good game, but he could not keep the Detroit Thunderbirds from falling, 8-7, to the Toledo Neptunes at Ballpark of Toledo. The Detroit first baseman was 3 for 4 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2 in the loss. Toledo reliever John Cole picked up the win to move to 1-0. Noriyuki Sakuma suffered the loss. Ming-feng Cong was called on to finish, recording his 8th save.

With one out in the bottom of the seventh, Gray Dijkstra had a game-changing hit. The Neptunes right fielder slammed a 2-run single off Jérémy Laurent, making the score 8-7, Toledo.

"We got the victory," said Dijkstra. "That's all that matters at the end of the day."

The win gives Toledo a record of 15-11.
