The Detroit Thunderbirds beat the Traverse City Bears, 1-0, at Thunderbirds Ballpark. Starting pitcher Ralph Baxter was a big reason why. He held his opponent in check all game. Detroit pitcher Noriyuki Sakuma got the win, upping his record to 2-2. Bob Harris got the loss. With the win, Detroit pushed its record to 18-16.

Chris Christian was the walk-off hero for Detroit. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Thunderbirds pinch hitter hit a dramatic run-scoring double to send the teams home.

"It's great when the crowd gets into it," Christian said.
