Pivotal Game 5 Goes to Host Thunderbirds, 3-2
The Detroit Thunderbirds needed some last-minute heroics to do it, but ultimately emerged one game away from the GLBL Championship today. The Thunderbirds got the 3-2 win against the Chicago Architects in a walk-off at Thunderbirds Ballpark. Detroit left-hander Jack Wilton had a solid outing. He threw 7.0 innings of 6-hit ball. The win gives the Thunderbirds a 3-2 advantage in the best-of-7 League Championship.

The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the ninth inning, when Detroit pinch hitter Mitsuo Takano, facing Raúl Garza, had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It gave the Thunderbirds the 3-2 win.

"Every loss hurts," said Chicago manager . "But this was a tough one."

The next game is set to be played for Tuesday, September 22nd , 2043 at Pier IV Grounds in Chicago.
